Estate Report set-up

Adding and editing gifts

Add major non-charitable gifts made by family members to the Edit Gifts section of the Estate. You can do so by

  • Navigating to the person’s Edit Gifts tab within the Estate dashboard and clicking “Add Record”
  • Navigating to the Gift List from the Lists drop-down in the upper right hand corner of every page and clicking “Add New”

Select the Grantor and Donee from the drop-down lists. If either of those individuals are not already set up in Aristotle, you can add a new person by typing his or her name and selecting ‘Create’. In the pop-up window that appears, chose Person as the entity type and add additional details about the person if they are available. Click ‘save’ and you will be taken back to the gift you were creating/editing, and your newly created person will auto-populate the field.

Fill in the amount of the gift, the tax year to which the gift applies and the date the gift was made. If the gift should be applied against the donor’s estate / gift tax exemption and/or the donor’s generation skipping transfer tax (GSTT) exemption(s), check the boxes accordingly.

Click save, and the gift information will be added to both the list of gifts and the Cumulative Gifts graph on the Estate Value tab.
